For example, an absolute majority of 54 percent of women found the greatest consolation in talking to friends and relatives after their separation . 39 percent found the distraction through hobbies most helpful and 32 percent were able to go out and partying best to forget their pain .

For men, hobbies were the top comforters with 40 percent agreement , but talking to their buddies about the breakup was still helpful at 39 percent. But for 32 percent, the best recipe for lovesickness is something that doesn't even appear among the tops of women: do sports !
Biggest discrepancy between men and women
Interestingly, the answer that the men and women surveyed disagreed about - besides talking about the separation - is a classic among the good advice most would give a good friend: a change of type, i.e. a new hairstyle , shop for a new outfit, experiment with a new style. While 20 percent of women rated this as beneficial, only five percent of the men surveyed decided in favor of this answer - if that is not due to the lack of influence of a good friend ...
