As soon as temperatures rise, thirst comes too. And to satisfy this, many people turn to soft drinks, juices, or sweetened teas. This is not a good idea for people who want to lose weight. Illinois researchers have found that if you want to lose weight, you should drink three glasses of water every day.
Study: 205 calories fewer thanks to a water
In a current study by the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, the experts analyzed data on the eating and drinking behavior of 18,311 adults. Each day, participants drank an average of 4.2 cups of water and ate around 2,157 calories. It was found that the subjects who drank the clearest water consumed the fewest calories.
The more water was consumed, the less fat was consumed. And the consumption of sweetened drinks also decreased. If you only drank one additional glass a day, you could reduce your calorie intake by 68 kcal. Three glasses saved 205 calories a day. People who want to lose weight permanently should replace all sweet drinks with water and have a glass before eating.
How much water can you drink?
As a rule of thumb, the body needs at least 30 milliliters of water per kilogram of body weight per day. The daily water requirement of a woman of 60 kilos is therefore a minimum of 1.8 liters. During the sporting activity, the requirement increases to around 40 to 45 milliliters per kilogram of body weight.
